BACK UP RINGS
Backup RINGs, which are a piece of O-ring holder and are used at high pressure, are placed on the O-rings in both static and dynamic states and prevent them from corrosion. Usually the backup difficulty should be higher than the O-ring difficulty.
Backup rings generally have a rectangular cross section and are made in various shapes and forms. Backup rings must be machined to a very precise tolerance to prevent elastomeric gaskets such as polyurethane from protruding.
Advantages of backup ring usage:
- Concave cross section
- Use of NBR and VITON materials
- Enabling reciprocal movements in floods
- Prevent O-ring deformation and flood protection
- Improve sealing pressure and increase flood service life
